I know because I lost count of the number of posing course I've taken.
I know because I never really got the answers I was looking for.
Out of my own frustrating experiences, I knew I had to take matters into my own hands and come up with a system that would allow me to create shitload of variety in a short amount of time while maintaining the quality of work I was known for - heck, even upping the quality of my portraits.
We have a posing Problem
In the wedding photography space
It was summer 2022 and I delivered a gallery to one of my highest paying clients to date. The wedding was gorgeous and the gallery was one of the best I had ever delivered - knocked it out of the park, 10/10.
Or so I thought...
They LOVED their gallery. The scenery, the details, the little moments and big ones, the lighting. Everything was perfect.
Except when it came to the portraits. And it's not that they didn't love those either - they did! The quality that they had come to expect from me, was there.
It was the quantity and variety that was missing and they were not happy about that. My initial response was "are these people crazy? this gallery is stunning!" And it was - but after some time and going through their gallery again, I thought to myself "you know what? these folks have a valid reason to be upset about the lack of variety in their portraits and if I want to continue my trajectory in my wedding photography career, I need to do better"
It was one of those blessing-in-disguise moments because the pain of dealing with that lead me to come up with a system that would never fail me again - Linear Posing.

All the subtleties of what goes into a great portrait will be covered in Linear Posing. But even if you already have a keen eye - not knowing the perfect sequence could be all the difference between happy, raving clients - or frustrated ones that come back to you asking "why isn't there more?".
Even if you deliver a 10/10 gallery but the variety of portraits are lacking - you won't get the 5 star review you deserve. You won't get referred. You won't book as many weddings as you should. After analyzing thousands of classic wedding day portraits, I realized there are a handful of common denominators in almost all of the ones that were great. The ones that were magazine and publication worthy. The ones that had that polished editorial vibe.
Mastering those common denominators and sequencing in a particular order makes posing wedding portraits so easy, It's almost laughable.

It is the only direct experience your clients will have with you while photographing their wedding day. You might do an amazing job shooting everything else, and the clients may love all of the other photos you take, but the place setting isn’t going to pat you on the back. The table-scape isn't going to refer you, the gorgeous venue shots aren't going to text you the next day in excitement and gratefulness for you. The flat lay isn’t going to say “holy shit, that was so fun, and easy, I can't wait to see all these”.
I could go on - but you get the point.
